The
team for 2008/2009
President: Mark Andrews
Mark is one of the
Co-founders of CITYWEST 4x4 Club Inc. and drives a 1999 Pajero
Wagon. His current Paj is the third Pajero he has driven and fifth
four wheel drive vehicle he has owned. Others have included an
early model 4cyl Jackaroo and 2-door V8 Rangie. Mark is one the
club's most capable off-roaders,with many years
experience, and was the
first Club Driver Training Instructor.
He has served as
Vice-President for the pst 5 years and has also been convenor of
the Trip and Safety Committee for that time. Mark has written
an outstanding Trip Leader Training course and has a group of
talented trainees coming through their
training.
During the week Mark
works for a computer software company that develops products
specially to meet the business needs of Local Government. He is
married to Carolyn, the convenor of the Social and Fundrasing
Committee. They have two daughters Katelyn (16) and Lauren (14).
The whole family enjoys a variety of off-road activities from local
one-day trips to extended camping
expeditions.
Vice
President: Leigh
Woodberry
Leigh
(Woody) Woodberry has been a member of CITYWEST since 2003 and is
enjoying his fourth year on the committee.
His
vehicle is a Toyota Hilux 3L diesel, which now sports "turbo power"
so that it can drag around all the gear that he packs into his
off-road toy for 4wd, camping and fishing trips. Since
purchasing the Hilux he has also added a 2" lift kit,
snorkel, winch bar and winch, rear locker and compressor, dual
batteries, 60l water tank, instant hot water, canopy and too many
other extras to mention. The Hilux has more than proven
itself on various trips and on the Advanced Driver Training course,
surprising many with it and Leigh's capabilities.
Woody has become renowned for the annual trip to Tassie that he
leads for the club, which is now coming up to its third successful
year.
Leigh is married to Fiona and they live in Hoppers Crossing with
their two boys, Dylan and Matthew, who love getting into the bush,
camping, 4WDriving and, of course, fishing.
Secretary: Ivan
Busljeta
Ivan
has been a member of CITYWEST for three years now and was elected
to the Committee as Secretary at the last AGM. Previous to that
Ivan was a committee member for part of the 2008
year.
During
the day Ivan is an IT Administrator but would much rather be out
4WD'ing and camping with his family and friends from CITYWEST. Ivan
drives a Toyota SURF and loves cruising up to the Victorian High
Country whenever he can. The tracks and camp spots up there are
simply fantastic.
Treasurer: Henk Piper
Henk
is currently serving as Treasurer and is in his second year on the
Committee. Since joining the club in 2006, he has always been
a contributor. Henk has complete his training as a Tail End Charlie
and hopes soon to start his training to become a Trip
Leader.
Henk
lives in Romsey and is married to Michelle. They have a beautiful
daughter Ashlee who also loves the outdoors. Henk is always ready
and willing to go anywhere and provide assistance when
required.
Living
where he does, the Cobaw Forest is one of his favorite 4WD
destinations. Henk has a Nissan GQ Patrol which he spends a lot of
time fine tuning and adding gadgets to.
Committee Member:
Carol
Russell
The
4WD bug has bitten Carol in a big way, and arguments are often
heard about who in the family is going to drive the
fourby!
Carol
is a geriatric nurse during the week and as well as 4WD touring she
loves her horses. This year Carol has agreed to assist the
committee with some of the membership administration functions
that would normally have been carried out by the Secretary.
If you are new to CITYWEST or are making enquiries, chances are
that Carol is helping out behind the scenes to help keep things
running smoothly.
Committee Member: Jim Mizzi
Jim
Mizzi, was elected to the Committee in 2007. He has completed his
Trip Leader Training within our club and has already commence
running very successful trips.
Jim has also completed the Advanced Driver Training Course, has his
Senior Level Two in first aid certification and has also completed
the Safe Chainsaw Handling & Maintenance Course.
He also brings many years of experience from other 4x4 clubs with
him.
His vehicle is a Lancruiser 100 Series fitted with 2" Old Man Emu
suspension lift, ARB winch bar & winch, side rails & steps,
HF & UHF Radios and a rear locker.
Committee Member: Ray Abela (
Website Portfolio Coordinator)
Ray
is a relatively new member to the club having joined in
2007 and due to his enthusiasm has been elected overwhelmingly as a
committee member for the first time. Ray is looking forward to
serving the club and its members to the best of his ability. He is
also looking forward to doing as many trips as possible to build up
his 4 wheel driving experience in the bush and maybe, one day
become a Tail End Charlie
and Trip Leader.
Rays
vehicle is a late model Toyota Hilux 3L Turbo Diesel which he
bought brand new stock standard and is slowly building it into a
formidable outback machine having added some serious modifications
to date.
Outside
the club Ray is self employed and has been for the past 15 years
running two businesses being Building Design and Building
Construction. Ray lives in Point Cook and is married to Ann who
attends club trips, son Matt who is also a club member and looks
forward to getting his own 4 wheel drive one day (Hilux of
course) plus daughters Rachael and Christine.
Committee Member: Anthony Cassar
Anthony
Cassar (CASSPA) has been a member of CITYWEST for 3 years, and is
in his 2nd year as a Committee Member. Anthony is married to Jacqui
and they have 2 children aged in their early 20’s. Jacqui joins
Anthony on most trips and she is active in the clubs
activities.
Working
in the transport industry as an owner driver, his real truck is a
Kenworth. Casspa works locally around Melbourne as a B-Double
configuration carrying our day to day groceries such as toilet
paper, beer & washing detergents.
His
toy truck is a Toyota LC Prado 120 series which is fully equipped
for touring & off road adventures. This vehicle has taken
Casspa on an extensive number of club trips from sand driving in
Portland, snow ploughing in the high country to mountain climbing
in Tassie. Also known as Mr Fixit by some club members, he always
seems to be able to fix someone’s broken vehicle when a problem
occurs on a trip (must be the truckie coming out in
him).
Anthony
has attended training courses in First Aid, Chainsaw operation and
Tail End Charlie. This will put him in good stead for training as a
Trip Leader in the future.
Sergeant at Arms: Chris "Brumby"
Klenkowski
We
welcome Chris back into the position of Sergeant at Arms for 2008.
This position is appointed by the Committee each year and is
an invited member of the Committee as well as an ex-officio member
of the Communications
& Media Sub-Committee.
Chris
has been a Member of CITYWEST for 4 years now. He
previously served as Sergeant at Arms in 2005 and as Sergeant at
Arms and Committee Member in 2006 and as Treasurer for part of
2007.
Chris
is also one of the Club’s Trip Leaders and Tallarook State Forest
is one of his favourite haunts having lead
many Club trips there, much to the delight of CITYWEST
Members. Chris is well known within the Club as “BRUMBY” for his
and his family’s love of the wild Brumbies of the High
Country. Chris owns a well equipped 80 Series Toyota Landcruiser
and takes it off road at most opportunities that arise. Chris was
the very first person in CITYWEST to be awarded Club Person of the
Year in 2006 and has been awarded Trip Leader of the year in 2007
and 2008.
